Most turf-type grasses are of European-Asian origin. It is a trend to replace alien lawns with native lawns in the face of the changing climate. While it is a mass undertaking, it gets easier by starting small with this Indiangrass, one of the most popular prairie tall grasses. Space is needed to grow tall grass. Otherwise, certain pruning is required.
Lab testing shows that Indian grass has a high dormancy rate—typically over 80%. This means most seeds will not germinate until the following year. First-season germination is usually around 15%, so only a small portion will emerge in spring.
For best results, allow a second growing season for full emergence.

Important Note:
Do not expect a full stand in the first year. Native grasses follow a natural germination cycle, and a portion of seeds will emerge in the second growing season. This is normal and not a sign of poor seed quality.
