Product description
Shungiku is a vegetable that loved by many Asians. The Chinese use it for hot-pot; the Japanese use it for Oden (Udong). It is also called Tong Hao, Chop Suey Green or Crown Daisy. It has a Chinese aster fragrance in every part of the plant. The leaves only take one or two minutes to be cooked. Therefore, it appears in various hot-pot dishes in many regions of East Asia, including Korea and Vietnam. It may be put in an instant noodle soup for a fast meal. It is an annual, 21 days for baby leaf and 45 days to maturity. Shungiku prefers a cool climate. It is best to be harvested right after the flower-buds develop, when it is at its peak of succulence. The seeds are untreated and heirloom.
